Reach Out and Read Volunteers

Volunteers are an integral part of Reach Out and Read. If you're already volunteering, thank you! There are helpful tools just for you at the bottom of this page.

If you're considering volunteering, we hope that this information will pursuade you to join us in making books a part of a healthy childhood!

What Can Volunteers Do?

  • Read aloud to children in a clinic waiting room
    • As little as 30 minutes, once a month
    • Model reading techniques for parents
    • Show that reading is fun!
  • Conduct a Book Drive
    • Collect new or gently used books from various places such a s scouts, neighborhoods, schools, party celebrations
  • Fundraising / Donations
    • Through work, bake sales, party celebrations, sports events
  • Tax-deductible Contribution
    • Your cash or in-kind donation may be tax-deductible
  • Start a Book Drop-off Site
    • Set up a bin at your office, school or local grocery store for continuous collection of books
